I mean you could leave your PC on 24/7, I suppose, but who in their right mind would do that with the fire risk and high energy prices? I rarely have to wait for PS5 games to update as they are usually already done when I turn on the console. It didn't but it was definitely starting to feel like it!!! It seems more and more games use this method which is irritating to say the least when you want to just play the game for 10 minutes but end up waiting an hour (or longer) to do so.Ĭonsoles seem to be far more efficient at patching games, seemingly requiring less space to do the updates and, of course, having the useful option of updating overnight while in rest mode, something the PC cannot do. At one point, Steam told me it would take over a year to install. This patch took around an hour to install on my system yesterday because the files were copied to the Steam library on a hard drive even though the game was installed to an SSD that had 100 GB free. ![]() Took absolutely ages to complete and by the time it did I no longer had any desire to play the game. This patch was 1.3 GB on my system but showed that the entire 50 GB was being updated.
